Thank you for taking an interest in Les Lilas French Bilingual Community School. Founded in 2015, we serve children from preschool through 5th grade and are recognized by the Mission laïque française and the AEFE (Agency for French Education Abroad). We are located in the heart of the Kingsgate neighborhood in the city of Kirkland. The school is easily accessible via Interstate 405.

Fully complying with the standards set by the French Ministry of Education, Les Lilas is a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We differ from conventional schools in our teaching method, as we favor the Montessori approach. We offer a safe and fun environment, where the overall development and autonomy of the children are at the heart of their learning. Respect, social responsibility, and mutual aid are some of the founding values that will help your children develop to their full potential.

Congratulations on taking this first step. Schools don’t only admit students — they admit families. I remember discovering Montessori education when I was a new mother. I can tell you that I am a different mother than I would have been, and my family is different as well because of how the Montessori method affected us. I am grateful for the influence it has had on us every day.

Montessori education is founded on self-directed, experiential, and project-based learning in multi-age classrooms where children learn the essential skills of a leader. All members of the team at Les Lilas work together to provide a warm, motivating, and nurturing environment in which strong social-emotional skills seamlessly develop in tandem with rigorous academics. These building blocks have become more and more popular to talk about as traditional schools scramble to meet the needs of the future.
