DO YOU OFFER PRIORITY ENROLLMENT FOR SIBLINGS AND/OR A REDUCTION IN TUITION?
Yes, we offer priority enrollment for siblings in October for the following academic year if the family has completed the application process, including a meeting with the Head of School. We also offer a 10% reduction in tuition for the youngest sibling.
DO YOU OFFER ANY FINANCIAL AID?
Yes, Les Lilas offers need-based financial aid, dependent on the availability of funds. Please go to our financial aid page for more information.
HOW MANY DIFFERENT NATIONALITIES ARE REPRESENTED AT LES LILAS? WHAT IS THE PERCENTAGE OF NATIVE FRENCH-SPEAKING STUDENTS?
Les Lilas has students that come from more than 10 different countries. 60% of our students are native French-speakers, with at least one French-speaking parent.
DO YOU HAVE AN AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM?
Yes, we do offer an after-school program! Please visit our Extended Day page for information on Garderie, our after-school childcare, and our Enrichment Program page for information on Découverte, our after-school classes.
HOW MANY CLASSES DO YOU HAVE PER GRADE, AND HOW MANY STUDENTS ARE IN EACH CLASS?
We have 6 multi-age classrooms: three La Maternelle classes for pre-K to kindergarten (ages 3–6); 2 L'Élémentaire class for 1st through 3rd grade (ages 6–9); and one La Grande Élémentaire class for 4th and 5th grade (ages 9–11). On average, our classes have 15 students (and never more than 20), with a student to teacher ratio of 8:1.
MY CHILD DOESN'T SPEAK FRENCH. CAN I STILL ENROLL IN THE SCHOOL?
Of course! Children who don't speak any French can enroll at Les Lilas through kindergarten, and they will receive specialized language support through our FLE program (Français Langue Étrangère, or French as a Second Language). Unfortunately, children who have never been enrolled in a French language school or program cannot be admitted after kindergarten.
HOW OLD DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO BE TO START AT LES LILAS?
Students have to be 3 years old by December 31.
DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO BE POTTY TRAINED?
Yes, children have to be potty trained. A child who is in the process of being potty trained will not reap the full benefits of our program. Please note that pull-ups are not allowed during school hours.
OUR FAMILY DOES NOT SPEAK FRENCH. HOW CAN WE HELP WITH HOMEWORK?
Les Lilas has a no-homework policy through 2nd grade. For 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, we offer an after-school Homework Club from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
DO PRESCHOOLERS HAVE A NAP TIME IN THE AFTERNOON?
There is a mandatory 45-minute relaxation time for our La Maternelle students. However, we work closely with parents to decide if a nap or a quiet activity is best suited to their child.
WHAT SCHOOLS DO YOUR STUDENTS ATTEND AFTER LES LILAS?
Our students attend a wide variety of independent or public schools.
