STUDENT SUPPORT

Our Student Support team is here to counsel, tutor, and create strategies to assist our students and their families in handling challenges. The team consists of Three key components:

Our counseling program is designed to teach and promote emotional intelligence across the school and provide support for the social and emotional growth of students and families.
Our advisory child therapist, helps students and families gain insight and develop strategies for managing conflict resolution, friendship dynamics, and understanding emotions. Some of the tools we use include short-term counseling for students, parent education workshops, and classroom observations.

In addition to the Grace and Courtesy lessons students receive from their teachers, the school counseling program utilizes social-emotional tools and programs to support Diana’s work with the students.

The Learning Support program, is designed to provide additional educational support through one-on-one and small group differentiated learning. While the program does not focus on Montessori materials or lessons, it employs a variety of approaches and tools tailored to each student's needs. Our Learning Specialist helps students and families gain a better understanding of learning challenges and strategies, though she does not diagnose or assess learning disabilities. When necessary, standardized testing and other specialized assessments are conducted to identify areas where support is needed. This data is kept confidential and is shared only with the relevant teachers, specialists, and families. Our Learning Specialist also works closely with faculty, staff, and families to ensure each student’s needs are understood. If required, students may be referred to external organizations or tutors to provide additional support.

At Les Lilas, we proudly open our doors to Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapists. We understand the importance of personalized support for our neurodiverse students, and we currently have several children working one-on-one with Behavioral Technicians (BTs). By collaborating with ABA therapists, we aim to create a supportive, inclusive environment where each child can thrive. Our school team works closely with therapists to ensure consistency and integration of strategies across the classroom and therapy sessions.

The goal of early Childhood education should be to activate the child’s own natural desire to learn
