HOW TO APPLY
Thank you for your interest in Les Lilas French Bilingual Community School. On this page, you will find important information on the application process.
STEP 1: GET TO KNOW US — SCHEDULE A TOUR OR ATTEND AN OPEN HOUSE
Visit our school, see our classrooms, walk around, explore, and speak with our wonderful teachers. You are also invited to attend a prospective family coffee hour to meet current parents and students and to share a cup of coffee or tea.
Our priority is to build a strong community because we really do believe that when adults get involved in the educational process, they show children that the community cares.
Appointments for tours are required and can be made here.
STEP 2: TELL US ABOUT YOUR CHILD — SUBMIT AN APPLICATION
If you feel Les Lilas is a good fit for your family, you can submit an application online. Please have the following available when you apply online:
- $100 application fee
- Current family picture
- Teacher evaluation, if applicable
- Current and prior year report cards (K-5th grade only)
For application deadline and other important dates, please consult our admissions calendar.
You can also submit a financial aid application. For more information on Les Lilas's financial aid program, click here. Please note that applying for financial aid has no impact on admissions decisions.
STEP 3: DEVELOP A HOME/SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP — SCHEDULE A STUDENT VISIT & FAMILY CONVERSATION
After your application is complete, we will schedule:
- a student Discovery Morning—we want to get to know your child as a person and a learner by inviting them to come explore our campus. We know that some students may not speak French or English yet and some families may be from out of town. We are able to make accommodations for special circumstances. Your child's Discovery Morning will be scheduled by our head of school, Virginie, in February or March 2024.
- a Virtual Family Conversation—during this conversation, you will get another chance to learn how Les Lilas is a good atch for your child and your family. These conversations will be held from December 2023 to March 2024.
STEP 4: ADMISSIONS DECISIONS
We email our admissions decisions in March (see our admissions calendar for this year's date) along with an enrollment contract. To accept and reserve a spot for your child, a signed contract and a 10% tuition deposit are due a week later.
If spaces fill up, your child will be placed on our waitlist. We will keep you notified of your waitlist status regularly.
INTEGRATE OUR LES LILAS COMMUNITY
Once you accept and secure a spot for your child, you will be invited to monthly community events (such as movie nights, paint-and-sips...) in order to get to know the other families and join our close-knit community.
Prior to the start of the school year in the fall, your child's lead teacher will come to you for a home visit. Our goal in doing so is to understand your child's home environment so that we can facilitate a smooth transition to school. We also feel that spending one-on-one time with each family helps to build a relationship and allows families to ask questions in the privacy and comfort of their own homes.
During the home visit, we may offer up suggestions on how to align your home environment with the Montessori approach your child will experience at Les Lilas.
