MARIE GSTACH
French Teacher, La Grande Élémentaire

Marie Gstach

Marie Gstach is the newest addition to our teaching staff and will be teaching at “La Grande Élémentaire.” She is originally from Strasbourg (Alsace, France).

Marie has been a dedicated primary school teacher since 2000. She spent 15 years teaching in France, covering both upper primary (Cycle 3) and kindergarten (Cycles 1 and 2). Her international experience includes two years as a substitute teacher at the International French School of Singapore, followed by two years at a trilingual kindergarten (French-English-Chinese). During those years, she also studied graphotherapy and graduated in 2019.

Marie then worked as a graphotherapist for five years in a French-speaking therapist’s office, assisting children from first grade to high school in improving their handwriting, addressing issues such as pain, legibility and speed. She has created an online store (‘MacAdam Lybellule’) that offers content, activities, posters and advice related to handwriting for graphotherapists and soon for teachers and parents as well.

She is also trained in “Primitive Reflexes” to help children in their cognitive, emotional and motor development.

Marie and her family, including her husband and her two children, Adam (16) and Lily (14), recently moved from Singapore, where they lived for eight and a half years since 2015. In her free time, Marie enjoys traveling, reading, cinema, music and sewing.

We are thrilled to have Marie join our team and are confident that her extensive experience and dedication will greatly benefit our students.

IF YOUR COULD TIME TRAVEL TO ANY HISTORICAL PERIOD TO BRING BACK A TEACHING TIP, WHERE WOULD YOU GO AND WHAT WOULD YOU LEARN?
I would visit the philosopher Confucius. What I admire about him is how he emphasized the importance of education and self-cultivation to become the best version of oneself. I appreciate how he encouraged mutual respect, ethics, and morality to coexist harmoniously. Finally, family is at the heart of Confucian philosophy, which highlights its importance.
